Music Video Analysis of Unfinished Sympathy and Burn The Witch Questions

Burn The Witch took many years to write and was in production for over 3 albums before being released because they weren't happy with the state of the video was in. The song refers often to shadows which are often related to bad happenings. The song is about the criticism of authority and a warning against group thinking.
Unfinished Sympathy is about how the singer is worried about starting a new relationship after what had happened in her last relationship. The song started out as a jam and turned in what we head after they decided to add in an orchestra.

Burn the witch sends out the message about criticising authority and not just going along with what they say. they show the extreme of what can happen with the wicker man.

In the Burn the Witch the band are no present in the video showing them to not be self aggrandising by wanting them as the focus for all their videos.
Unfinished Sympathy Has the singer in the for ground which we focus on and the other band are walking in the background behind her slightly out of focus showing them to take pride in their work but not to be fame hungry.

I believe both videos to represent the artists accurately. As from what I have read Massive Attack weren't fame hungry just making the music that they like. RadioHead also seem to rather modest when interviewed and describing the music as well.

Burn the Witch uses stop motion that hasn't been used since the 70's as the band would of grown up watching those types of TV sows when they were kids so they would of wanted to use a animation type that wanted to use something familiar. Massive Attack Used a single take shot throughout the entire video this type of video would of been something still new when they did it and it shows about how the singer who's singing about love knows that love never changed.

RadioHead References the Wicker man and Trumpton as they would of watched both growing up as horror movies were few and far between and TV was very limited for kids and would of just watched whatever is on.

The street has been use in the massive attack video to show the never ending story of the singers life as she continually walks ever after the video ends the singer walks round the corner of the street showing how she will never stop.

In retrospective to both videos the lyrics and music fit the video perfectly as in Burn the Witch is a darker slower tone which is done perfectly. In Unfinished Sympathy it fits well as the singer is walking by herself and it uses a slightly faster tempo and uses sharper notes. in line with this the video fits together perfectly.
