Music Videos Analysis

Music Video Analysis of Unfinished Sympathy and Burn The Witch Questions Burn The Witch took many years to write and was in production for over 3 albums before being released because they weren't happy with the state of the video was in. The song refers often to shadows which are often related to bad happenings. The song is about the criticism of authority and a warning against group thinking. Unfinished Sympathy is about how the singer is worried about starting a new relationship after what had happened in her last relationship. The song started out as a jam and turned in what we head after they decided to add in an orchestra. Burn the witch sends out the message about criticising authority and not just going along with what they say. they show the extreme of what can happen with the wicker man. In the Burn the Witch the band are no present in the video showing them to not be self aggrandising by wanting them as the focus for all their videos.  Unfinished Sympat...

Radio Head the Indie / pop Band that has been around from 1985 to present day still making songs that people from around enjoy. They seem to present themselves as a dark or "edgy" band in most of there promotional material they are mostly dressed in dark colours and looking down. There music has always had an oppressive nature with a single person fighting back against the oppression from this we see that the true nature of the music is coming from people seem the feel or empathise people who are oppressed, this gives the medium a new way or reaching people as the songs always make you feel something good no matter the context or the reasons behind the song. Moon shaped pool is the bands ninth album which exploded to commercial and critical success with solid reviews or 4 and 5 / 5. the album art was done by Stanley Donwood who has done a lot for the band over the years being their main artist for cover art. Online digital Publications

Daily Mail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.html The daily tends to have a single large story on the front of the newspaper in singular view whereas on the website they put more stories on display on the front page of the website. They still have the main headline for that day but they have large sections taken up by by other stories where as the paper has one large article then small ones in the space left. The Daily Mail also has a lot of advertisements to pay for the website. The Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/uk The guardian doesn’t have one large article on the website it tiles all its articles so it appears as though they all share the same space. Where as on there paper prints they have a lot of writing and smaller pictures for the articles. This contrast shows how the guardian is targeting more people who wish to know the facts and figures for the stories rather than a dramatisation of the stories. The Guardian has very few advertisements...

As both are breaking the fourth wall in doing this we see that neither trust each other and tells bring us back to reality as this tells us that both of them are putting on personas for the video. After this the camera pans and Taylor gives the camera a quick look over her shoulder in an attempt to look suductive to the watcher. This is part of the “gaze” to try and appeal to the people watching. Next After being kicked out the window the camera takes Taylor point of view in which we are directly looking at the other women who were fighting in the office this is breaking the fourth wall but instead of grounding the viewer to makes us more agitated than anything else as we are look...

Comparing front Page Articles

Daily mail:  - Dramatic moment Syrian refugee, 21, is pinned outside a takeaway as he becomes second man to be arrested over parsons green ‘bucket bomb’. That Daily mail have targeted its audience by having an article that peaks there interest a bombing and a Syrian refugee that is being arrested on suspicion of being associated with a terrorist is what Daily mail fans want in a news paper. The Daily Mail used relatively simple language on the front page which adequately describes the story in enough detail to urge readers to read on to see what happened next. The daily Mail used a very serious tone for the front page description of what happened as this is quite a serious story. On the front page there appears to be no bias or agenda its just the Daily Mail describing what happened. The paper could have chosen this story in particular as Britain is currently trying to crack down terrorist activities, due to the previous attacks. The Paper used quite drastic pict...
